DYSPORT
Dysport has been recently approved by the FDA for use in the United States, however, the drug has been safely used in Europe and South America for some time now. This latest wrinkle fighter is a modified version of botulinum toxin A and inhibits facial muscle contractions that over time lead to forehead lines, frown lines and crows feet. Like Botox, Dysport is only approved to be injected into the glabella, or the frown lines, but will be used off label for all areas of the face. From a comparison standpoint, the cost of Dysport is about 20-25% less than Botox and lasts about four months with one study showing up to 8 months. In one study, Dysport showed a more rapid onset of action, within 24 hours, whereas Botox can take 2-3 days to start to be effective.
Most importantly, to reduce the risk of adverse effects, it is critical for every patient to choose an MD who is highly qualified, trained, and has extensive experience with cosmetic injections and procedures. It is worth the time it takes to do your research and find a doctor that you can trust. Dr. Weiner is the first to use Dysport in the area and his clients have been very pleased with the results.
