What is Evolence?
Evolence is the newest dermal filler that will soon hit the US market. It is expected to be FDA approved April, 2008. It is already approved for use in Europe and Canada. In the US, Johnson and Johnson has the marketing rights.
What is Evolence made of?
Evolence is made from purified porcine (pig) collagen. It is processed in such a way that it is nearly identical to human collagen. Therefore, no pretesting (allergy testing) is needed, like the older collagen required. There were no allergic reactions in the FDA clinical trials.
With all the fillers on the market, why should I choose Evolence?
Evolence is unique in a few aspects. There is hardly any swelling or redness after injections. Also, the bruising is much less with Evolence because collagen naturally causes hemostasis (clotting of blood). So, any vessels disrupted by the injection, are rapidly plugged with the Evolence to minimize any bruising. Duration of action will be longer than several of the current fillers. It is expected to last from 6-12 months. The longer duration is the result of cross linking using naturally occurring sugar molecules, just as the body naturally does. Collagen fillers, as well as Evolence, have always been known to be a soft, naturally appearing filler.
What are the dissadvantages?
It will probably require more Evolence to do the same correction as it would with Restylane or Juvederm Injection Gel. Also, Evolence is not able to be used in the lips. In the future, Evolence Breeze will be approved, and that will be a great filler for lip augmentation.
When and where will Evolence be available?
The Aesthetic Clinique will have Evolence about 1-2 days after FDA approval (expected April, 2008). Dr. Weiner will be a physician trainer of Evolence. Until a physician is trained, he/she will not be able to order Evolence. As a result, for a least 1-3 months after FDA approval, Evolence will be exclusively availably only at the Aesthetic Clinique in the Emerald Coast/Pan Handle Area.
